QuotesFromTheOffice.mobi Launched

To go along with QuotesFromTheOffice.com, I just launched QuotesFromTheOffice.mobi. This mobile website contains Office quotes from season 3 episodes.

Although I rarely use the Internet on my cell phone, I have always been interested in creating a mobile website. Newsvine.mobi provided the inspiration and a simple source code framework for the design.

Jim Kukral Observes Quotes From The Office Website

In one of Jim Kukral’s recent blog posts, titled “Online Success: Start With The Idea, Monetize It Later,” he takes a look at my website [Quotes From The Office] and makes some great observations that shed some light on the business of online success and also why I started the website. Read Jim’s posting.

Here’s the history on starting Quotes From The Office back in June of 2006:

  • I was late in the game when first watching “The Office.” I didn’t see an episode until early in the second season.
  • I borrowed the first season on DVD from my cousin, loved it, then bought the episodes on iTunes.
  • I was looking for Office quotes websites, but there wasn’t much out there. A Google search for “quotes from the office” didn’t yield the results and websites I was looking for.
  • Purchased the domain quotesfromtheoffice.com in June 2006 and had a plan. However, I didn’t act on it until late July 2006.
  • Re-watched all the season one and season two episodes and typed out my favorites quotes. Slowly added them to the site.
  • Created pages for popular characters: Dwight Schrute, Michael Scott, Jim Halpert and others.
  • Really started analyzing the webstats and optimizing page titles and meta tags with keywords that would drive quality traffic.
  • Slowly, but surely improved the design and navigation of the website
  • Went out and sought some key links from Wikipedia and Office related websites. Wikipedia was a great strategy at the time because I was linking to very relevant episode and character quotes pages.
  • Added Google Ads once I felt comfortable with the overall design and content.
  • Added Auction Ads recently to add visual ads and not overwhelm the visitors with Google Text Ads.

Draft Picks for The Cleveland Browns

I am very excited about the Brown’s draft picks and Phil Savage’s gutsy move to trade up for Brady Quinn. Expectations for Brady need to be set before the season begins. Here are a few possible scenarios:

  • Brady sits the entire first season and Charlie Frye remains the starting QB.
  • Charlie gets traded, the Browns sign a veteran QB to start, and also mentor Brady.
  • Charlie gets traded and Brady is the starting QB.
  • Brady will take over the roll if Charlie struggles or gets hurt.

As long as there is not another QB controversy I will not care if Charlie is given the starting job this season. The O-line is stronger and Charlie shouldn’t take as many hits this year. Brady’s time will come soon enough.
