A Few of My Favorite Concerts

Since I was 14 years old (back in 1995) I have saved quite a few concert tickets from some of my favorite shows. You can see I am somewhat biased toward Punk Rock, but I did include a ticket from Lollapalooza. Below are a few of my favorite shows (in no particular order). 1. Good Riddance @ Agora Ballroom - 7/5/02
The only time I saw Good Riddance headline a show in Cleveland. I remember getting on stage for “Steps” and then doing a stage dive.

2. Vans Warped Tour @ Cloverleaf Flea Market - 7/24/96
Best Warped Tour ever! In my hometown of Valley View, Ohio - due to a last minute venue change. Great line-up: Pennywise, NOFX, Face to Face, Unwritten Law, to name a few. I shaved a Pennywise logo on the back of my brother’s head and he was asked to go on stage by Pennywise during their set. They gave him two options. Do a massive stage dive, or hang out with the bands backstage. He chose the stage dive… I think he still regrets that decision to this day. The tour ended when a big thunderstorm blew out Face to Face’s speakers.

3. MxPx @ Ron’s Crossroads - 3/17/96
A little dive bar in Akron that did not allow any form of moshing. Mike from MxPx was sick as a dog that night, but still put on a great show. My buddy Scott got on stage to sing Punk Rawk Show.

4. Beastie Boys @ CSU Convocation Center - 8/14/98
This concert was right after Hello Nasty came out. My favorite Beastie Boy’s album. Was very cool to see them play instruments on a rotating stage.

5. Lollapalooza @ Blossom Music Center - 7/22/95
First “big” rock concert. I was a big fan of Hole and Courtney Love at the time. She made the mistake of stage diving, then getting her dress ripped off. Too bad I didn’t have a closer view after that happened. : )

6. Rise Against @ The Grog Shop - 1/2/05
First time I saw Rise Against headline a show, and first show seen at The Grog Shop. They played with A Wilhelm Scream, another one of my favorite bands.

7. The Dropkick Murphys @ Agora Theatre - 10/12/01
I don’t remember much from this show, but I have never been disappointed at a Dropkick’s show.

8. Mighty Mighty Bosstones @ Newport Music Hall - 11/16/96
Traveled with my big bro to Columbus for this show. I remember it was packed and standing off to the side of the stage in front of the speaker. Couldn’t hear much the next day.

9. Strung Out @ Euclid Tavern - 7/27/00
I wished I could have seen more shows at The Tavern before it closed. Such a great place. Strung Out is one of the most amazing bands, and I was just starting to get into their music at the time of this show.

10. Pennywise @ Odeon - 10/31/95
First punk concert… on Halloween! Jim came out wearing a mask. I sat off to the side with Mudd Henry because we were both scrawny little teens and the pit looked pretty rough. There was so much energy at the show, and this is what really got me in to punk rock.
